Experience snow-shoe hiking of the special type. The snowed-in forests and paths around the Latemar and Catinaccio Mountains offer the perfect setting for hiking in peaceful and unspoiled nature. The area around the Ski area Carezza - Karersee offers everything from easy, flat paths to steep and demanding tours.

Snowshoe hiking tours 

-Starting at Hotel Romantik Post, an easy gradient leads through the forest, and then via the so-called Schießstand path to Pentner Säge. 20 min.- From Hagner Hut on the forest path to Niger Hut. 2 hours-Turn right after Pension Erna, then follow the Samer path to Außerfohrer and to Samerhof farm. 1 hour and 15 minutes- From the tourism office to the church square and to the Hager Hut. Approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes-From the church square via Vöstlhof-Ratzöhlerhof to Rosengarten guesthouse and the Laurin I chairlift. 45 minutes-From the Latemar sawmill to Geigerhof, then down to Pircherhof and on to the Dolomitenstraße road. 2 hours and 30 minutes-Turns off the main road to the right above the Latemar sawmill and leads to Pension Geigerhof. 1 hour and 30 minutes

From Carezza to Obereggen

Starting point: car park at lake Carezza

From car park lake Carezza (1525m) walk 350 m along the road towards Bolzano and take the second path on the left (Geigerhof). After about one hour you will get to a hill and from there take the path to Bewallerhof. You will find here path number 9 to Obereggener Sattel. From here there are only 200 meters to ski area Obereggen (1550 m), where you can find many hotels and ski lift.

Labyrinth at the foot of Latemar

Starting point: Grandhotel Carezza

The starting point of this itinerary lies on the road taking to the Costalunga Pass, in front of Hotel Carezza (1609 m). Walk for approx. 20 m the “Plörzen” dirt road, then take the “Agatha Christie” path on the right (trail marker nr. 18). Go on for approx. 10 minutes, until you reach a fork: turn right and go along the flat trail until you reach a dirt road (trail marker nr. 11). This takes to Lega di Mezzo (1839 m), where the "labyrinth path " (trail marker nr. 20) begins: this trail offers breathtaking views. After a short ascent, you arrive in Prati di Latemar (1908 m) at the foot of the Latemar mountain. Take the path nr. 18 on the left, going past the Ochsenhütte shepherd’s hut (1823 m). After approx. half an hour you will reach the starting point. 

Easy snowshoe tour

Starting point: Karerpass

Start at the Karer Pass. Take trail marked 21 through the snow-mantled Karerwald forest as far as Mitterleger, then on along trail no. 11 to the lake Carezza. To return, either retrace your steps or take the bus. This walk is suitable even with meagre snow cover
